1. What is e-IMS?

e-IMS is a fully automated and integrated web enabled total workflow management system designed specifically to address the unique needs of educational institutes. e-IMS seamlessly integrates and simplifies the management of the various complex and time consuming activities including application processing, admissions, fees payment processing, course management (course allocation, time-table management, attendance, examinations, grading etc), HR planning, payroll management, inventory management, financial planning (all other modules name should be included here).

The web enabled real time total integration and data management capabilities of e-IMS creates a cutting edge, technology enabled environment and facilitates quick and creative analysis of data, thus facilitating astute and timely decision-making (in all areas-financial, course management, library management, student strength-weakness analysis, teacher performance/skills analysis etc). E-IMS also significantly improves quality of the student-teacher and parent-teacher interaction thus adding value to the whole system of an institute.

2. What does e-IMS aim to achieve?

6. What Other security provisions are there in e-IMS apart from User based access?

The other security features are not available within the solution rather it is integrated if desired by clients to ensure additional security. We do offer the following security measures to our clients:

• 3 tier technology architecture

7. I dont have internet connection. Can i still implement e-IMS?

Yes. You can still implement e-IMS even if you do not have an Internet connection. You can use Intranet (Local Area Network). With intranet you are able to access e-IMS only from your local network and not from everywhere. Therefore, you require internet, only if you require remote access, else an intranet facility is adequate.

8. What are different education segments for which e-IMS can be implemented?

e-IMS can be implemented in any organization which has education and training as its activity. e-IMS has already been implemented in engineering colleges, medical colleges, business schools, residential and Non Residential Schools), hotel management institutes etc and training and vocational institutes.

9. What are the areas that e-IMS package covers for any institution?

e-IMS covers the major pillars of any academic institute that is academic, administrative and financial areas of any kind of institute.

10. Can an institute start implementing a few modules to start with as a pilot basis?

e-IMS has over 20 modules which are being categorized in four areas which are Core, Academic, Administrative and Specialty. e-IMS has a modular architecture which allows the institutes to Pick and choose the modules it is interested in. This enables a phased implementation of the solution. A pilot implementation covering a minimum 6 modules (including 3 core modules) can be undertaken.

11. Do e-IMS supports multiple national/International languages?

In case there is any specific requirment, e-IMS can be customsied to be operational in other languages

12. Do e-IMS has any up gradation provisions?

Yes, e-IMS can be regularly upgraded as per the user requirements identified from time to time.

13. What if I want to add some specific functionality on module other than that is in e-IMS?

You can add specific functionalities, other than in e-IMS, on the modules you choose as e-IMS provides high degree of customization.

14. Is integration of modules under e-IMS possible with some different modules from different company?

Integration of modules under e-IMS with some different modules from different company depends upon following:

• Source code of the other module should be available
• Again integration requires, the other software should be compatible with the technology we have used

15. Can you elaborate on the robustness of e-IMS?

As far as dependability is concerned, provision like firewalls for anonymous signals to secure data, automatic back up of data as precaution to system crash is there in e-IMS. Web enabled feature makes information accessible at any point of time from anywhere. More than 40 institutes are benefited so far. Thus, e-IMS is dependable enough

IMPLEMENTATION AND MAINTENANCE SUPPORT

1. What are the areas of its implementations?

E-IMS can be implemented in any educational institute irrespective of nature and culture according to its need and requirement like schools, engineering colleges, B-schools, universities etc

2. How long will the implementation take?

It would take a maximum of 3 months for the customization and installation of e-IMS. If required, Kalingasoft can also depute one software engineer for another 3 to 6 months for ensuring smooth migration to the automated environment.

Kalingasoft will supervise the detailed project management of the data entry and implementation exercise. Kalingasoft will also provide on-site implementation support of 2 months after the successful deployment of the system.


3. Is the product customizable?

e-IMS is basically mapping of processes followed by different educational institutes, therefore, it can be customized according to the client’s requirements.

4. How long customization will take?

The customization can take from two months to four months depending on the depth of customization.

5. What about annual maintenance of the product? Will it be done onsite or offsite?

Depending on the depth of changes, the maintenance can be done either onsite or offsite. Even the client has the option to decide the one or the other.

6. How much time is required to get trained and start using this product?

The product is user friendly. Each module has been designed keeping the layperson’s understanding in view. One week of training would make you proficient in using the package smoothly.

TECHNOLOGY

1. How do you ensure data security?

This package is specific for the user. User role is clearly defined for each module in such a way that the user can manipulate the data which he is entitled to do so. Regular backup can be taken without user interference.

2. What are the H/w & S/w needs and platform required?

3. Will it support my existing system? How will be it linked?

If the data can be extracted from the existing database then it can be implemented in your existing system. But again there are some restrictions in this.(specify these restrictions)
